Just to let everyone know, these shoes aren't meant for everyone. You truly have to try them on first and see how they are. Personally for me I got my Bikila for the first time few weeks ago and I am in love with them. They are so comfortable and are just perfect. I run track, cross country and needed shoes that were light enough and durable enough. The Bikila have not let me down. The only con though is watch out for stepping on rocks...because if they hit the wrong spot on the bottom of your foot, you will be in pain :P Other than that I don't have any cons :D

I was an NCAA collegiate runner, and have always been very active (weights and running). I have a history of bad shin splints. I found Vibram's three years ago and am not only still using my three year old Vibrams, but I have five pairs total and will continue buying more. I cannot imagine going back to anything else for running and weight lifting. They receive my highest recommendation.

Pro - Once you get used to them they are reasonably comfortable. The soles last.
Con - They blister everywhere, socks or not. The insides will rip up in 3 months of regular use. Don't run on pavement. Just don't do it. The foot never evolved to run on unforgiving pavement, 2mm of rubber won't help.
Conclusion - You are really trading one set of problems for another. Be prepared to spend hundreds of dollars to stream new pairs of vibrams on a quarterly basis. My advice, just go barefoot.

After tearing my ACL for the third time, I opted out of surgery because I've had enough. Luckily, there was no other damage to my knee, so my doctor cleared me for straight line running. Unfortunately, regular running shoes caused nearly unbearable pain to my knee after a little over a mile of running. It was discouraging, but after reading about the benefits of barefoot/minimalist running I decided to give the Bikilas a try.
In short, I couldn't be happier with them. I have virtually no knee pain after running 3 times a week for a month, and I'm on pace for putting on 10 miles this week alone.
Even better, I find myself looking forward to my next run rather than dreading it like I used to. Running feels so much smoother, as if I'm gliding over the ground. highly recommend these shoes...not necessarily if you have a torn ACL because there can be other problems associated with that, so please ask a doctor first.
My biggest concern is wear and tear because one of the reflective strips on the side is already starting to fall off. Luckily, it's mostly superficial, so time will tell how the rest of the shoe holds up.
I highly recommend this shoe to anyone who runs. Be sure and ease into the running to strengthen your calves, but once you do, it brings a joy to running I never expected to experience.
