I paid full price for this jacket from an upscale department store. I was reluctant to buy but knew if worse came to worse I could always return it with my tail between my legs.
Now I might be nuts but I think the price seems a bit nuts for a jacket. Seriously, over $200? But I bought a North Face raincoat that pretty much solved the raincoat problem for life: perfect fit, very light, yet very breathable. I've owned many winter coats but each always fell short in either bulk, fit, wind or water. Could one jacket do it all?
Once again North Face delivered outstanding value. This coat kept me warm, dry and comfortable every day throughout the winter. What's more is it has nearly no bulk and is light as a feather. That last part is what amazes me about the coat more than anything. It weighs next to nothing.
After buying it I tried on other comparable coats (Eddie Baur, Land's End, Columbia), and all were acceptable but none felt as good as the North Face.
Perhaps the only drawback is the lack of a hood but as I own the raincoat and this is so slim I could easily slip that coat over this one and be fine in about any condition. An amazing coat worth every reluctant penny.
And man, what a darn deal on this site, but what can you do?
